Eostre is a Goddess of Spring whose attributes are only known in England.We name Easter after her,although she represents the regeneration and regrowth of nature as revered by our heathen forefathers.
She was mentioned by the venerable Bede who described her as one of the oldest known to the English people.The rising sun,the egg and the hare are all symbols connected to this ancient diety.
